Facility: Opened in 1957. Modernization took place in 1989.

Highlights for 2017-18

  •  
  • Increased after-school programming including Techbridge Girls, cooking and gardening club, music club, bicycle club and tutoring.
  • Support English Language Learners through a schoolwide focus on academic conversations and discourse.
  • Science MSP outcomes at 61% proficiency based on 16/17 MSP.
  • Received “superior” ratings for the Cascade Band and Choir.
  • Increased the percent of students graduating Cascade reading at or above grade level to 87 percent.
  • 100% of eligible 8th graders applied for the College-Bound Scholarship.
  • Launched a PTSA to support family engagement, school fundraising, and shared decision making. Began monthly Dinner with the Principal.
  • Reduced the number of out-of-school and in-school suspensions on a year to year basis.
  • In our fourth year of the Spanish Dual Language program.
  • Increase college-going culture through college field trips and career exploration day.
  • Determined our school mission, vision, and core values in collaboration with students, families, community, and staff.

Plans for 2018-19

  • Support English Language Learners through a schoolwide focus on academic conversations and discourse.
  • Add an orchestra class to grow our music program.
  • Continue to increase family engagement with our PTA and monthly family nights.
  • Increase lessons on social-emotional skills and community building skills by emphasizing a strong advisory.
  • Provide staff with cultural competency training throughout the year to strengthen connections between staff, students and families.
  • Increase home visits and academic family engagement opportunities.
  • Continue to study and align teacher's work with the Common Core State Standards to ensure that students gain knowledge and skills in their daily standards-based activities, assessments, materials, curriculum and instruction.
  • Teachers will share their practices, collaborate and make results transparent by engaging in critical conversations about improving instruction.

Families and community members are encouraged to participate in school activities and in educating students in school, at home and in the community.
